Senior Portrait Info.

Here’s a guide to making your Senior Session fun and your Senior Portraits awesome!!!!

Senior Sessions are always full of fun and energy. What I recommend to my seniors is to come with an open mind and a fun attitude and of course a lot of clothes. Usually sessions last around 1-1½ hours. This usually gives you enough time for 3 looks, so bring a bag of clothing and I will help style your session. Some clothes are adorable but may not photograph well, that’s where I come in.

Please bring clothing that fits your personality and that you feel comfortable in. I recommend layering clothing to add interest. Also anything with lots of color and texture photographs really well. I usually ask to stay away from pastels and whites as they don’t photograph well outdoors. I love color! Bright colors really make your portraits pop! Try to think outside your box but still maintain your identity.

Make sure you keep your clothes on hangars, wrinkles and portraits don’t mix.

For Outdoor Sessions;

Some poses will show your shoes so don’t forget to bring shoes & socks for each outfit that you plan to wear.Barefoot? Love it! … Guys don’t forget those belts and Gals, don’t forget your jewelry.

Props can help to show your personality and record the types of activities you are involved in. Be sure to bring some of your own props to your portrait session. Here are some ideas: Musical Instrument, Vehicle (car/truck/bike) you must notify me if you are bringing these for your session. They often require an accessible location and sometimes require extra time. Letterman jacket, uniform/ball/helmet/shoes/stick/bat the more the better! Hats, sports equipment, sunglasses, cheerleaders – poms/megaphone,  and lastly, pets (some restrictions may apply-please check with me first).

Here are some final tips:

Simplicity is the key to a successful portrait. That and all the little elements that come together to create the end result. Each thing you do right will make a major difference in the end product. Then, step ouside the box with me to create those special edgy portraits that set you apart from the rest. It just takes a little nerve! If you can envision it, I can make it happen!

Due to my lighting designed to bring out your eyes, I cannot photograph you with lenses in your glasses without a possibility of lens flare. Your optometrist will be able to remove the lenses or let you possibly borrow a pair of similar frames. Also, contacts can be worn, but make sure your eyes aren’t red. Visene!

You should wear your hair in your regular style. Guys should NOT have a fresh haircut, but should have a fresh shave! 5 o’clock shadow will show and can’t be touched up but 5 o’clock shadows are fine if that’s the look you like. If you need a trim, have it done about a week before. Gals, don’t go get a new style or go to a new stylist that you’ve never used before.

A little Visene will “get the red out” if you have allergies!

Having your clothes fit and ironed is very important!

Get a good night’s rest, relax and be ready for a great portrait session!

Q & A’s

What time should I arrive for my portrait session?  Arrive about 5 minutes early to the location we have agreed on when we scheduled your session.

What will my session be like? In a word… FUN! You might be a little nervous at first, but not for long. The beautiful atmosphere and my stupid jokes will have you relaxed in no time! Ha!

Can I bring a friend?  Please do. It will help you feel more relaxed. Even a parent if you want! Just don’t bring your whole fan club!

How long does my Session last?  Typically girl’s sessions last longer than the guys. Girl’s sessions are around 1-½ – 2 hours

Can I combine Outdoor and Studio Sessions? Yes, I can give you an estimate of time if you are interested.

Can I choose two or more outdoor locations?  Yes, I can give you an estimate of time if you are interested.

Where is your Studio? I operate my studio in my home. I live on Freeman Creek (off of Carmen Creek). Directions will be given at time of scheduling.

When do I decide what portraits I want to order? After you have seen your previews. All of your session images will be posted on this website in Client’s Gallery within 5 business days of your session. You will need to choose a case sensitive password to access your proofs. From the images posted you will have a file IMG number assigned to each image that you will use to order your prints.

Your gallery will remain online for viewing and purchasing for 4 weeks. To repost the gallery after the 4 week period there will be a $25 reposting fee. Prints ordered within 3 days of the gallery being posted will receive a 10% discount. If you are not ready to order your pictures until spring, please note the reposting fee for your online album or you may also travel to my studio to view your images at no fee.

What if my parent’s and I like different poses? No problem! I create plenty of poses to please both you and your parents. You can order from as many poses as you want.

Can I order additional portraits later?  Yes!  But be sure to order plenty of wallets with your initial order to avoid reposting web album charges and time crunches. I will archive your session images for two years. You are free to order within that time.

When is my yearbook portrait due and how do I get it? Your yearbook portrait is due by November 1st. You are responsible to choose a vertical image and let me know the IMG number. I will then submit it at no charge to the yearbook staff at your school. Your vertical yearbook choice should be one that is at least a 3/4 pose with your face very visible.
